Australia rise to the top of ICC Test rankings | Acrux Sports

Australia have usurped New Zealand and India to the top of the ICC Test rankings on the back of their thumping home Ashes win over England. Pat Cummins's side eviscerated the visitors with wins in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart, and narrowly missed securing a victory at Sydney too, where England fought hard to eke out a draw. The 4-0 series win still gave Australia the fillip to move past the inaugural World Test Champions and the runners-up to take top spot with 119 points.

India meanwhile, slipped to third place with 116 points after suffering a 2-1 away series defeat in South Africa, where they made the right start in Centurion but suffered back-to-back losses in Johannesburg and Cape Town. This result pushed South Africa up to fifth spot with 101 points while Pakistan are down to sixth with 93.

New Zealand maintained status quo at 2nd spot with 117 points after their drawn home series against Bangladesh. Kane Williamson's side bounced back emphatically after suffering a rare home defeat, their first loss to the Asian side in 32 meetings across formats at the international level. They achieved level-pegging in the two-Test series with a massive win by an innings and 117 runs.
