Ben Stokes appointed England Men's Test captain
Britain have designated Ben Stokes as the new Test commander following Joe Root's acquiescence recently.
"I'm respected to be allowed the opportunity to lead the England Test group. This is a genuine honor, and I'm amped up for beginning this late spring," Stokes said.
"I need to say thanks to Joe (Root) for all that he has accomplished for English Cricket and for continuously being an extraordinary envoy for the game all over the world. He has been an enormous piece of my improvement as an innovator in the changing area, and he will keep on being a vital partner for me in this job."
Stirs up, who made his Test debut in December 2013, has played 79 red-ball games for England. He was named bad habit chief in February 2017 and furthermore remained in as skipper when Root was missing for the introduction of his second youngster in the mid year of 2020.
The Durham allrounder has scored 5061 Test runs at a normal of 35.89, and asserted 174 wickets with the ball.
Stirs up's arrangement, that will make him the 81st commander of the England Men's Test group, was endorsed on Tuesday night by the ECB Interim Chair and Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison following the suggestion by the Managing Director of England Men's Cricket, Rob Key.
"I had no faltering in offering the job of Test commander to Ben," Key said. "He typifies the attitude and move toward we need to take this group forward into the following time of red-ball cricket. I'm glad that he has acknowledged, and he is prepared for the additional obligation and the honor. He completely merits the open door," he added.
"I'm glad that Ben has consented to become England Men's Test skipper, which is one more extraordinary accomplishment in his remarkable profession in an England shirt," Harrison said. "He minds profoundly and enthusiastically about representing England and he will lead us into another period with incredible pride. It's a significant summer for our Test side and Ben will I am certain relish the test before him and his group."
