2022 T20 World Cup: MCG to host final on November 13
The 2022 T20 World Cup will be held across seven urban areas in Australia, the ICC has affirmed. The competition will start off on October 16, with the last scheduled to be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground under lights on November 13.
A sum of 45 matches will be held across Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The principal semi last is booked to be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on November 9 and Adelaide Oval will have the second on November 10.
Has and recently delegated champions Australia will join Trans-Tasman rivals and 2021 other participants New Zealand, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, England and South Africa in the Super 12 phase of the competition. Namibia, Scotland, double cross victors West Indies and 2014 heroes Sri Lanka will play in the main round. Four additional groups will go along with them by means of the qualifiers.
The competition was at first expected to be held last year in the equivalent time period however was delayed to 2022 following the pandemic.
